Stock footage films are made from footage already available. Like from already released Hollywood or Bollywood films or from any other footage available that has the scenes required to fit the story line of a film. At times specific footage required by clients is sourced from film archives. There is a cost for using this footage and the clients are charged accordingly. A special edit is created using this footage with graphics, music & voice over added. The edit is for private circulation only and cannot be broadcast.

A shoot is carried out especially for the client’s film. This requires the use of camera, sound, lights, attendants, and cameraman & shoots coordinator. The shoot could be done at a clients own location or any other location suitable for the clients film. In case another location is used an additional cost for the same is borne by the client. A film could also be made from a combination of shoot as well as stock footage. In case of shoots in remote areas, sites, locations, the additional cost of travel, boarding & lodging is applicable. The client is charged additionally in case of special shoots like ariel shoots, crane shots, moving shots or shoots requiring the coverage of machinery & close up shots of products. The cost of the shoot depends on the requirements as well as the number of days of shoot.

Music for a film can be specially recorded or provided from an already ready source. The music used will be such that it fits with the overall flow of the film. Special audio effects are added to enhance the appeal of the film.

A voiceover is recorded as per a script which is prepared for a film. The voiceover is a narrative of the film and can be in a male voice or a female voice. The voiceover can be recorded in a language of the clients choice. At times a film is has versions dubbed with voiceovers in different languages. If a client needs different language voiceovers for the same film, he / she is charged with translation charges as well as the cost of voiceover artist & dubbing studio charges in addition to the existing charges.

The cost of a film will depend on the above specified factors. Additional charges are applicable for special shoots, tailor made music & the kind of voiceover required along with the number of languages. A service tax of 10.3% is applicable on the total cost.
